Alright, so I’ve been thinking about whether I should rewrite my app using the Mantine UI library instead of continuing with Shadcn. As I’m scaling up and writing more portions of my app, I’m realizing that I’m having to write a lot of stuff that Mantine offers out of the box. It’s kind of annoying to have to write my own components like copy-to-clipboard and all the tiny nitty-gritty UI elements when I could be focusing on shipping the features my users want and not just building UIs for the sake of building UIs.

Right now, I just realized that I’m spending way too much time coding, revising logic, and refactoring components to keep them reusable… I have to make some trade-offs here. I need better systems or tactics for talking to users. Right now, the pace is too slow, and people are not picking up my messages. I feel like I’m sending DMs out into the void. I need more responses, so I’m considering sending cold emails instead of cold DMs on Facebook.

In the meantime, I need a better system to keep track of my backlog. Currently, I’m doing everything on the fly. I’m not as organized as I should be, or as I have been in my past corporateo jobs, where everything had to be neat, clear, and organized. I want to maintain higher standards without putting more pressure on my mental bandwidth. I don’t want to add layers of complexity because I’m pretty happy with the way things are now (in my life).

Overall, for June, in terms of self-management and startup direction, I need to talk to more users and revamp my app to get accustomed to this new library. I believe that switching Mantine is a good idea because I’ve heard good things, and some big names in the industry are using it. It might not be a bad idea to switch for productivity reasons.

And obviously, I need to make more income. I should dedicate some time to freelancing or landing more contract work to extend my runway. Right now, I’ve been working with B2B clients, institutional clients, finance, financial management firms, and asset management companies. It seems like a good idea to focus more on these areas.

I have some assets from my time at a big corporate firm and a good network from my business school. These could be leveraged better. There are some action items I need to put together in a separate note, and I’ll end this one here.
